The Challenge:

Pinterest Predicts, the platform’s annual trend report, was evolving from a primarily B2B initiative into a B2C cultural moment. The mission? To cement Pinterest as the ultimate trend authority. But in an era where more brands than ever before release trend reports, and micro-trends cycle through social media at breakneck speed, trend fatigue was setting in across culture. Our core audience, the Aesthetic Trendsetters, weren’t interested in passively learning about fleeting and hypothetical trends. Rather, they wanted to actively engage with trends in real time, and use the trends as a tool for self discovery and self expression.

The Strategic Insight:

We found that unlike on other platforms, people don’t just scroll and browse on Pinterest, they use it to plan very real aspects of their future lives. With a proven five-year track record of 80% trend prediction accuracy, we had a unique opportunity to not only position Pinterest Predicts as an authentic trend-predicting authority, but to also redefine how trends are experienced. This wasn’t just about showcasing trends, it was about becoming the true trend-manifesting authority by empowering people to try tomorrow’s trends on IRL before anyone else and to make them their own.

The Big Idea:
Enter Try on 2025: Trend Drops, a first-of-its-kind trend report that brought the trends of tomorrow to life by inviting people to experience, engage, and own them before they hit the mainstream. By collaborating with artists and partnering with world-class brands (like Marriott, Wayfair, Urban Outfitters, Lego, Meta Quest, Universal, and Canvas) we transformed each of our 24 trends into tangible products and immersive experiences. We worked with the hottest trendsetting influencers to tease our Trend Drops and then continue to build hype as they were released exclusively on Pinterest.
